Once Upon a Time – Chap. 1.1

Once upon a time, there was a young girl destined to become the next great magician of her village. Well, perhaps magician in training was closer to the truth. She did manage to turn earthworms into butterflies and cause blooming flowers to wither away with a mere chanting of words but neither of these were the desired effect. And becoming the next great anything in her tiny village in the valley was not likely to present itself as an outstanding challenge being that it was only about forty people strong. Still, Sylvia had high hopes and large dreams. She also had a pet monkey named Obmuj who was a constant source of encouragement, clapping his hands and doing a little dance even when her spells went awry (the latter of which was quite often).
